Zhiqiang Lou with his creation, 2025
Lucas (Z.Q.) Lou, representational artist of landscape and nature, I was born in Shanghai, China. In 1976, I began private lessons with the famous artist, Ho You Zhie. I finished studying advertising in 1980 and went on to become a Creative Designer for the Shanghai Yan Zhom Arts and Crafts Company. I then followed my ambition to become a Designer of the Shanghai Advertisement Association in 1985.
After immigrating to Canada in 1988, I became fascinated by Canada's great natural landscapes and scenery. All of these wonderful sights propelled my inspiration and artistry.
I am a member of the Mississauga Arts Council and Society. I have been conferred many prizes and awards for my work. My consummate skills using oil and pastels have enabled my works to encompass visual and verbal images. I often exhibit my art in Canada.
I prefer working with oil and pastel. I believe in experiencing wonderful possibilities, to realize thoughts and feelings from the natural beauty of my surroundings, and to combine them with the world of fantasy in my dreams.
